Patrick Cockburn es un periodista irlandés que ha ejercido como corresponsal en Oriente Próximo desde 1979 para el Financial Times y en la actualidad para The Independent. Considerado uno de los observadores más experimentados acerca de Iraq, ha escrito varios libros sobre la historia reciente de ese país, un trabajo de investigación sobre la asistencia a los enfermos de polio (el propio Cockburn la contrajo y sobrevivió a esa enfermedad) y una serie de ensayos sobre la Unión Soviética. Escribe también para CounterPunch y London Review of Books.
